Pressrelease "Beautiful Landscape" 1999, Ynglingatan 1 Stockholm
Many of Erla Haraldsdottirs projects has in different ways dealt with surveillance.
On her show at Ynglingagatan last fall, the gallery visitors were filmed during the opening through a so called spy-mirror from one of the storage rooms of the gallery. The film was then showed throughout the exhibition period and gave us a picture of how we act in certain situations.
In her current "Beautiful Landscape" it is like we instead look into some ones dreams. The large photographs display unearthly beautiful Icelandic landscape, on the verge of National Geographic-kitsch. Yet in all the images there are things that do not belong. The exact hanging of the photos hint a mysterious story, which leads to another story.....

Riksutställningar, Swedish Travelling Exhibitions, is proud to present a travelling exhibition with the artist collective Swe.de. The collective of artists has no joint manifesto. They formed the collective simply because they enjoy working together.
One of our ambitions collaborating with Swe.de is to capture the social element in this method and the ease with which the group attracts and includes other creators in itsactivities.
The artists will organise one-day projects and collaborations with local artists during the tour of the exhibition.
The web site www.swede.riksutstallningar.se offers the opportunity to follow the Swe.de projects on tour. Swe.de is an abbreviation of the Swedish Department and the collective is based at the Y1 Gallery on 1 Ynglingagatan in Stockholm.
The exhibition has been put together by Swe.de and it is produced by Riksutställningar.
